Anyone who knows me well will tell you, I love Taipei. I’ve been lucky enough to visit the city a bunch of times over the past few years in order to slowly put together my long list of favourite places in the city…that list includes my favourite work-friendly coffee shops in Taipei.
With the help of my friend Bao Bao, a local Taiwanese artist, I’ve created this guide to the best coffee shops in Taipei for remote workers, freelancers, and artists. Bao Bao’s an amazing illustrator and character artist and you can check out her work here!

The Five Top Cafes in Taipei for Remote Work

1. Tian Ye Coffee (田野咖啡)
Known For: Delicious desserts and tranquil vibes
Why I Love It: Tian Ye Coffee can best be described as a coffee workplace haven. From the moment you step through the door, you’ll be immersed in the peaceful yet welcoming atmosphere (and the amazing smell of coffee). The coffee is brewed to perfection and there’s an unmatched selection of seasonal desserts – the black sesame chiffon cake was one of the best cakes I’ve eaten. With wood and exposed brick interiors, Tian Ye Coffee is a stunning place to spend an afternoon working…just remember that payments are cash-only!
Good For: Solo coffee workplace
Address: 115, Taiwan, Taipei City, Nangang District, Lane 178, Section 2, Nangang Rd, 26號1樓

2. Coffee XOVER
Known For: Sleek style and shaken tea
Why I Love It: There are no two ways about it, Coffee Xover is cool. It has a matte black design, an innovative menu, and baristas who just know exactly what they’re doing. Upstairs has a bunch of tables or move downstairs for additional seating. Thanks to the sleek design and vibey atmosphere, it’s easy to zone in and get to work, plus you have a huge choice of interesting coffees and its signature tea shakes to get you through the day. The energy is busy enough that you’ll feel comfortable taking meetings from the cafe but not so loud that it’s a distraction. In other words, Coffee Xover is an ideal work-friendly coffee shop in Taipei.
Good For: Productivity and relaxed meetings
Address: 10449, Taiwan, Taipei City, Zhongshan District, Jinxi St, 31號1樓
3. Ke Fen Yuan Cafe (柯芬園咖啡館)
Known For: Its sweet and cosy atmosphere
Why I Love It: As my friend described it, Ke Fen Yuan Cafe is like walking into your Grandma’s house to find a plate of delicious cookies waiting to greet you. It’s a quaint laptop-friendly cafe shop that instantly sets you at ease so that you feel comfortable staying for hours. The homemade cakes are also completely unmissable! Be warned, Ke Fen Yuan Cafe doesn’t have WiFi so you’ll probably need a hotspot or pocket WiFi before visiting.
Good For: Relaxed remote work sessions (with cake)
Address: No. 8號, Lane 18, Nanjing W Rd, Datong District, Taipei City, Taiwan 103
4. Halfway Coffee
Known For: Communal cowork setup
Why I Love It: Halfway Coffee is without a doubt one of the best cafes to do work in all of Taipei. Its entire concept is built on freelancers and artists using the space to work without worrying about overstaying or getting in the way. The energy is super laidback making it great for group work sessions with a communal sense of concentration to help peak your productivity. There are lots of plug sockets and free WiFi, plus you get a discount on your second drink for those longer work days.
Good For: Group work sessions
Address: No. 9, Alley 51, Lane 269, Section 3, Luosifu Rd, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106

5. UNI Cafe
Known For: Specialty coffee in a relaxed setting
Why I Love It: If you love cats, you have to check out UNI Cafe. It’s on the smaller side, but if you can get a table you’ll immediately see why so many remote workers fall in love with this work-friendly coffee shop. The owner is extremely welcoming and the cafe cats are even friendlier. The quiet atmosphere is great for locking in and getting things done, and it helps that there are usually other freelancers in the space also working hard. The speciality coffees are always high quality and there’s free WiFi, although come with your devices charged as you might struggle to find a plug socket.
Good For: Cat lovers looking for feline work friends
Address: No. 15號, Kinmen St, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, Taiwan 100

Chain Coffee Shop Honorable Mentions
Whilst I always love an independent coffee shop, sometimes it’s good to know there’s a trusted chain location around (almost) every corner. Here are the two I like the most for finding a coffee workplace in Taipei.
Louisa Coffee
Comfy, relaxed, and always easy, Louisa Coffee is a staple of any remote work trip to Taipei. In most locations, you’ll find lots of seating and plenty of plug sockets, plus the coffee quality is actually pretty good for a chain. It might not be anything special, but knowing a Louisa Coffee location was nearby has saved me on more than one occasion.
Dreamers Coffee Roasters
The first time I visited a Dreamers, I had no idea it was the chain. It’s done a great job of making each location feel unique, with a signature wood and white walls style that fills the cafes with lots of natural light. The coffee menu is interesting and I’ve really enjoyed trying a bunch of different drinks along with the genuinely delicious selection of baked goods. Dreamers has a bit more of a creative vibe than expected for a chain coffee shop and it’s a go-to for guaranteed productive afternoons.
