Why Naka-Meguro Should be on Your Radar
One of the wonderful things about this city is that every Tokyo neighbourhood has something unique to offer. Whether it’s the foodie paradise of Ebisu, Kichijoji’s shabby-chic vibes, or the grandiose streets of Asakusa, no two places are the same.
What makes Naka-Meguro stand out is its effortlessly cool collection of cafes, boutiques, and bistros dotted along the iconic Meguro River. During the sakura season, the river is lined with a wave of delicate white and pink cherry blossom flowers…and the streets are full of crowds.
Outside of the Spring, however, Naka-Meguro often goes overlooked by tourists. No matter the season, I love to visit this area. There’s no shortage of new food to try, excellent people-watching, and a wonderful feeling of coolness in the air.
Oh, and so many work-friendly cafes to check out! I’ve had the privilege of spending a lot of time in Naka-Meguro and it has to be one of the best neighbourhoods for remote work.
Here are my five favourite laptop-friendly cafes in Naka-Meguro to find your next go-to remote work coffee spot.

The Five Best Cafes in Naka-Meguro

Good Sound Coffee
Known For: Cool atmosphere and indoor/outdoor seating
Why I Love It: Good Sound Coffee is one of my absolute favourite places to work from in Tokyo, especially when the weather’s nice. Why? Because this work-friendly cafe in Nakameguro has a unique indoor/outdoor seating bar that lets you sit on the outside of the cafe while still technically being inside. There are plenty of outlets, wifi, and a fun menu that includes desserts and fun drinks like homemade soda and even coffee cocktails.
Good Sound Coffee is a few streets back from the river so usually less crowded than other Naka-meguro cafes. The vibes are laidback, easy, and pretty upbeat, making it the ideal place to zone into a productive mindset.
Good For: Remote work and coworking with friends
Address: Mori Bldg, 1-6-5 Kamimeguro, Meguro City, Tokyo 153-0051
FRAMES Nakameguro
Known For: Cute cafe interiors
Why I Love It: If you’re looking for a remote work coffee shop that’s filled with light, wood, and yummy food, then Frames is the place for you…it literally has a tree inside of the cafe.
Frames has a great food menu, loads of seating, and reliable wifi. The staff are always lovely, and you can feel comfortable settling in for several hours of work in this easygoing environment. Practically speaking, it has everything a remote worker needs in a laptop-friendly cafe with the charm of a Japanese cafe as the cherry on top.
Good For: Reading, meetings, and eating
Address: Nm Bldg, 1-18-6, Kamimeguro, Meguro City, Tokyo, 153-0051
OPEN Nakameguro
Known For: Minimalist industrial style
Why I Love It: OPEN is the kind of place that you can’t help but think was designed for remote workers. There are lots of seating options from tables to sofas and even an outdoor terrace for when you need a breath of fresh air…but still have to work. The wifi is reliable and the menu has a good variety of drinks, snacks, and small plates to keep you satiated for an afternoon.
The interior has a concrete, spacious feel to it, meaning you’re never crammed in or too close to other patrons. This is ideal for zoning into work without the distraction of hustle and bustle right behind you – plus you never feel in the way even after several hours of work.
Good For: Long remote work afternoons
Address: Nakameguro Crossover, 2-9-17, Kamimeguro, Meguro City, Tokyo, 153-0051
Riverside Club
Known For: Brunch and Brooklyn vibes
Why I Love It: I discovered Riverside Club by happenstance at the end of a long walk down the Meguro River. It enticed me in with the fun decor and comfy-looking seats but I quickly discovered it’s a lot more than just a cafe. Riverside Club is a restaurant/bistro/coffee shop all rolled into one with a cool Brooklyn flair, great food, and the ultimate relaxed atmosphere.
You can easily spend an afternoon working from this place, just make sure to try one of the cakes before you leave! I also want to shout out Riverside Club for having the best non-alcoholic g&t I’ve found in all of Tokyo.
Good For: Taking meetings, remote work lunches, and relaxed computer work
Address: The Works, 3-18-3, Aobadai. Meguro City, Tokyo, 153-0042

Streamer Coffee Company Nakameguro
Known For: Unique drinks and cool baristas
Why I Love It: Streamer is a small Japanese coffee chain with a few other locations around Tokyo. It’s known for having an intimate and inviting atmosphere that complements the carefully crafted coffee menu. There are always interesting drinks brewed perfectly by some of the coolest baristas in town, with this location offering a quintessentially Naka-Meguro laidback edge.
Inside is spacious with no shortage of outlets and a generally lively atmosphere, which I personally find really helps me click into work-mode. It’s located just one street back from the Meguro River, so it can get busy at some points (especially during cherry blossom season).
Good For: Coworking sessions with remote work friends
Address: REIELEC青葉台, 2-16-6, Aobadai, Meguro City, Tokyo, 153-0042
